As detailed in this Dev Blog, we made changes to freighters and jump freighters in the Kronos release a week ago. As part of these changes, freighters and jump freighters gained low slots and lost some base cargo capacity to compensate.
To help ease the transition for freighter pilots we added temporary exceptions for freighters and jump freighters to the normal rules surrounding overloaded cargo bays. Normally a ship with an overloaded cargo bay cannot warp, dock, undock, use gates, use jump drives or use jump bridges. In the initial Kronos release the rules for warping, docking and gate jumping were relaxed for freighters and jump freighters temporarily while the other restrictions remained.
In the Kronos 1.2 release scheduled for June 11th we are ending this grace period and normal overloaded cargo mechanics will once again apply to freighters and jump freighters. To be clear, Kronos 1.2 will not make any further changes to cargo capacities of freighters or jump freighters. Players will only run into problems if their cargo bay is more than 100% full.
If a freighter has an overloaded cargo bay in space before the Kronos 1.2 patch downtime, it may find itself overloaded after the deployment. This will prevent warping, docking or jumping until the cargo is reduced below max capacity.
We advise all freighter pilots to either log out inside a station before this patch or to ensure that the cargo holds of their freighter or jump freighter is equal to or below max capacity.
