Steel Daggers was founded in YC 107 as a sister corporation to HIVE, itself one of New Eden's earlier capsuleer ventures, established in YC 105. SLDG served a dual purpose from the outset: as a filter for pilots being evaluated for full HIVE membership, and as a covert operations arm — scanning, scouting, and gathering intelligence on war targets. In the early days of capital logistics, when moving a carrier across New Eden still required hiring dedicated cynosural field pilots, Steel Daggers also ran a brief but profitable cyno service.
HIVE's home had long been the Drone Regions, operating under the banner of alliance O X I D E in the B7-LYC constellation. That chapter ended mid-YC 109, when a coalition of R0adkill, SMASH, Pure, IRON, Atlas, and the ever-present Triumvirate drove O X I D E from their space. With sovereignty lost, the membership returned to empire. Pilots carrying negative Caldari faction standing — unable to anchor a POS under the new circumstances — transferred to Steel Daggers rather than leave the community entirely. Buyenne was appointed CEO, and SLDG became a corporation in its own right.
In the discussions that followed, the corp faced a crossroads. Some pilots departed for Damage Inc., seeking the low-security life in Aridia. Buyenne and the remaining core chose a different philosophy: NRDS — Not Red, Don't Shoot. The corp relocated to the XV7L-S Constellation in Providence and spent several weeks learning the rules of a different kind of warfare.
On 20 March YC 110, during the heat of the Starfraction War, Steel Daggers was accepted into Sev3rance — a moment made possible through the advocacy of Malignitas, Bander Darkstar, and Dreamy, whose sponsorship is remembered with gratitude. With assets relocated and a new home secured, leadership launched a corporation IPO to fund the construction of a POS reaction chain, marking SLDG's transition from nomadic survivors to established industrialists.
In August YC 111, Steel Daggers achieved what few corporations could claim: they launched their own Outpost in the Y9-MDG system. True to their industrialist roots — and their deep love of blueprint research — they chose a Caldari Research Outpost. A station bearing their name, in the stars they had fought to hold.
The station did not survive the next year. In March YC 112, the Southern Coalition launched a sweeping invasion of the Providence holders. The defence failed. SLDG evacuated Y9-MDG and watched their outpost fall into enemy hands. Within weeks, Sev3rance joined the Northern Coalition to strike back — assisting in the defence of Tribute against the same Southern Coalition tide. By May YC 112, with Tribute secured, Sev3rance pushed into Pure Blind alongside Fidelas Constans and Mostly Harmless, carving out new sovereign space in the North.
In January YC 113, after nearly three years flying under the Sev3rance banner, Steel Daggers departed the alliance. They joined the newly formed Gentlemen's Agreement — a coalition of veteran pilots whose experience and tactical discipline proved their worth in the wars against IT Alliance in Fountain and Querious.
In July YC 113, through ties forged with Director Formula, SLDG joined Apocalypse Now. The chapter was short-lived. Within a month, the pressures of real life pulled many pilots away from New Eden, and the corporation entered a period of dormancy — its history written, its name ready to fly again.]
After years of silence, the call of New Eden proved impossible to ignore. Through the rekindled ties of an old acquaintance, Buyenne and the remnants of Steel Daggers found their way back into the game — this time invited to operate out of Old Man Star, the notorious low-security system in the Essence region and one of New Eden's most enduring PvP flashpoints.
